Tulare County Office of Education needed a new identity for their existing planetarium facility since it was to be relocated from its original site.  We were asked to create a fun place for the kids, one that welcomed them to the facility and invoked excitement for science and space exploration.  It’s not too often that we are asked to create a similar feeling one might get from Disneyland for schools, however, we were still very conscious of the budget and construction time.  The design challenge was to have fun with the architecture through various angles, proportions, and colors but to incorporate a simple building structure using traditional construction details that have proven to be effective over time.
